I was wondering, I think I got banned because I kept misspelling "identify [password here]" and the 20 second lockout passed, is this a temporary or permanent ban? I think it was 3 possibly 4 times that I kept becoming Guest####. I was having issues earlier this year about getting identified in the time allotted. I usually use my forum nick in irc. Any help would be appreciated. The issue I had and still having is that my auto identify is not working like it did last October. I was without internet access until June this year. Now I found this: Using the same nick from several hosts To be able to do this, you must add other hosts in the access list. To be able to alter the access list, you must first identify yourself (if not done). Then issue the command: /msg NickServ@service.cd access add <user>@<host>.<domain> wildcarding is allowed. For instance if the user nicked "gnarfer" wants to add some of the other hosts he is using, he will then issue /msg NickServ@service.de access add rubenro@*.blh.no NickServ will the reply with: -service.de- *** ACCESS: Site entry 'rubenro@*.bih.no' added - delayed until next synch operation -service.de- *** NickServ register entry updated (added 1 site). would this work with my second auto identify which is still working (on irchighway) to say "scibott@irc.xertion.org" or am I misinterpreting this completely?

You didn't get banned. Connect back and identify to your nickname using /NickServ IDENTIFY [your password goes here]
don't include the []

If you need your password reset or something, I can do that as well. Also if you want the 20 second time out removed, you can type /NickServ set KILL off and it won't give you that 20 second time out delay to change your nick at all.

Follow the tutorial from ToonDude7's link about how to get to IRC. It has been updated from the one he linked before, and is a little more in-depth on setting up. Far as downloading from IRC goes, there's ops there that can help you once you get connected.

Please can i ask a really basic question? I'm scared that after getting one file i'm going to get banned...:(
What's the protocol for the DCC window? You queue up a download with your send command, then wait, and then are asked to accept or reject. When you accept the DCC window pops up. Then what do you do? I'm unsure whether you type /exit to close everything (it shut down my Chatzilla completely) or just close it without any prompt or some other command.
Please can some kind soul tell me EXACTLY what i should do with that DCC window to maintain IRC etiquette?
Actually what things should i not be doing at all? Some places i read !list is BAD others it's encouraged...what things get you banned? (as in ignorant errors not deliberate trolling)

(as in ignorant errors not deliberate trolling) havent used chatzilla in a long wile i recommend you download xchat-wdk (free) or mIRC (pay after a wile) as with command upon entering the channel it lists the commands we allow in the topic as well as other info Current Topic: [%] Topic is '#Cartoon-World [triggers]: @find !new !list [XDCC Packlists]: http://cartoon-world.org/xdcc/ [Tracker]: http://tracker.cartoon-world.org/ [New]: Ben10 UA231, Beyblade MM37, Bleach246, PokemonBWRD08, ThunderCats2011 13, Pokemon Movie 14 Black & White, NieA Under 7 Complete' hope that helped

Thanks, i'm somewhat paranoid as i realise how easy it is to unknowingly get banned for being inexperienced on IRC and i don't wish to do something that's innocent but stupid.
Once the DCC window appears after you have accepted a download what is the established etiquette? Do you use the /part command? (if it even works) or close it some other way? Also i'd typed exit forgetting the / component and got a message not to type text in that channel. Is this one mistake bad in that particular place?
See how petrified i am??? :D

I don't get every time I tried to log into or sign to a IRC channel it tells me that I need to be authenticated I did a research on it and saw that you have to put some sort of phrase or command line in the IRC chat room or something. Does any one know a better way to register into a chat room in the IRC channel I tried many times and could not

Although then you'll be required to authenticate that you're the one with the right to use the nick each time you access the channel. However that's easy to do with an IRC client, as they allow you to input your nickserv pass into the network settings of the client so that it'll automatically identify you.

I dunno if I should have to ask this or if this is even the right place to ask, but I thought I'd do it anyway just to be sure.... First Question: Well since I'm still a newbie at using IRC, I was wondering are passwords needed for each channel or are they completely optional?Second question: So, after looking at the main C-W webpage, I clicked a link that lead me to an easy to search list, which conveniently contains easily copyable irc download commands. Naturally, upon seeing that list, I was ecstatic at how easy everything seemed to have become for me. But upon looking it through doubt crept in, as I found that some series seemed to be on bots not belonging to C-W. Which now has me wondering what would've happened if I had entered one of the DLL commands for a bot not belonging to C-W whilst being connected to the C-W IRC Channel?
