I rename my files, some of which I've had for YEARS, so I don't remember who I got them from.
I have no desire to re-encode.
I'm talking about posting on the forums.
What if I don't know WHO did the original release?
-I rename & convert all my files a specific way-
Is there any wiggle room there?
For the most part, data conversion is re-encoding, if you are converting the video/audio, you are re-encoding. If you meant to say something different instead, elaborating would probably clear that up.
If all you do is rename video files of a show that you found somewhere on the Internet, don't have a clue who did them, and want to share them, I'd take a guess and say you should do something like this:
1) If yours is the only release/a better release of said show: Make a thread, and when putting who encoded it write: Unknown
Therefore it shows that you just tried to upload something nice, you found and wanted to share it with people here, but dunno who to mention.
I have no authority here, so this of course is just a guess.
