as this tutorial is spread on many sites its getting tiring to update and maintain as i have to go to each site where i wrote this tutorial and update it on each of those site, so i decided to put it on one site and just link it to the many sites i put this guide

here is the handbrake tutorial link -> https://sites.google.com/site/taumox/handbrake-tutorial

Thanks a lot, I was always annoyed at the quality of videos created with handbrake until I used your advanced settings.

Honestly this is a pretty good guide. It tells people not to make Mini encodes with High Definition resolutions. Rather, it actually tells the person to use a more appropriate standard definition resolution.

Hopefully that real anime 6 and rmvb creation software can go extinct.

Also crf 24, I lol'd.

@zolockit
ye people are not aware that if they gonna re-encode to lower bitrates then they have to lower the resolution too in order to have a balance on bits per pixel

and as of SVN 3891 soft subbing for SSA/ASS is finally done for Handbrake

Code: Select all
#398 (Mar 31, 2011 3:02:00 AM)

True SSA passthru for MKV.
We were converting SSA to UTF8 subs which looses a lot of formatting.
Now we pass through the ssa unmodified and add all fonts as attachments
to the mkv. — jstebbins / Trac

so get the latest Handbrake below
Code: Select all
https://build.handbrake.fr/job/Windows/

the problem exist from 00.07ms - 00.09ms bit laggy and annoyed me.
thanks for the tutorial. eventho im using for windows, the settings working perfectly fine.
and im having some problem, i've trying to solve, but still cant find any method.

the problem are, when the scene is moving from left-to-right or from above-to-bottom,
the scene is kinda laggy, im sorry but im not sure how to say the proper problem is...
it's like, when the frame moving from left to right, its kinda stuck every 0.01 second, even the source it motion total smooth.

sorry if you dont get what im trying to say...

@nujhum

is that video suppose to lag? i do not see any lagging on that youtube video clip

if your source file is playing smooth, then have you tried checking the CRC of the file just to make sure your source is not corrupt? here is a guide -> File Corruption Checking

if that is not the problem then make sure your using the latest Handbrake nightly build here -> https://build.handbrake.fr/job/Windows/ and try to use "Variable Framerate" on "Framerate (FPS)" option under the "Video" tab

and may i ask is your re-encode hardsubbed or softsubbed?

yah its kinda laggy in the frame exist from 00.07ms - 00.09ms.

yes it suppose to lag in the timeline that i mentioned.
even tho its just a little, but it annoying;.

yeah the source run smoothly without any lag and i did compared both the source and the one i re-encoded. that's when i found the problem is there.

im using the handbrake 0.9.5(2011010300)

im doing the softsubbed, but if the problem solve i may try the hardsubbed one.

no im going to check whether my crc corrupt.

@nujhum

i just remember if your on mac os x, try playing the file with VLC Player or MPlayer, as i heard QT do not support some x264 features that causes glitches while playing a video

if your on windows OS, try playing it with MPC-HC bundled on CCCP codec pack

so your problem maybe just on the playback of the video and not the encoding itself

im on windows, with mpc hc with cccp. or maybe my pc spec is the problem. im not sure.

i've just compared my encode and other encoders, the same video title and the same episode using the same handbrake. and the same setting.

and there's slightly differs, quality almost the same but mine got some laggy in some scene, but perfectly smooth on the other encoders video.

man. killing me softly...

found a solution to FLAC (6 channels) audio encoding with vorbis, just set the "Mixdown"
on the "Audio" tab as "Mono" and "Bitrate" "48" is as low as you can go according
to testings

P.S. updated the guide accordingly

updated the tutorial with the below text and updated screenshot for it

Quote:
go to "Picture" tab (Resolution tab) and select "None" on "Anamorphic" drop down box
then check "Keep Aspect Ratio" now on "Height" input box put 400 or 360
now the "Width" will be calculated automatically
NOTE: 400 as height is 400p so 360 as height is 360p
