Shikabane Hime
When a person passes from this plain, if they are of peace they continue onto their next journey into heaven. But what happens when a soul can only find regret? The result is it becomes tarnished until it cannot remember it's humanity and animates the body once more. It becomes a shikabane, a monster that feeds on humans in with it's constant regret driving it on.
Their is only one thing that can kill a shikabane, and that is one of it's own that still retains it's humanity if saved in time, the shikabane hime. With a contracted priest at their side to give them power and strength, they fight the demons that lurk in the night, all the while reaching to 108 when their soul can find it's peace.
This anime is about a boy who for a great deal of time is shrouded in mystery. He has no past because he cannot remember. No family of any kind. An orphan he lives with the other children and goes to school. But his past seems to follow him wherever he goes in the form of an odd cat that no one else can see, which leads him constantly closer to the shikabane and the organization that kills them.
I gotta say this was a really interesting anime. The plot can slowly but kept it interesting, filled with horror and despair. But with the comedy relief of the boys extremely perverted sempai (a mass collector of porn mags and echhi figurines) it kept from getting to despairing. The artwork was great, and the action was top notch from swords clanging, to oozies spraying the streets.

Shonen Onmyouji
The anime is about a boy named Masahero, or as others call him saimei's grandson which he hates to no end. In a family made up of the brightest people from star diviners, royal courts, and the greatest of the onmyouji that ever lived comes masahero, a boy who can see no spirits, nor is he very good at much anything else.
He finds that in his early childhood his grandfather sealed his second sight so to protect him from the evils that would attempt to kill him through his grandfathers dealings, all the while guarded by two shinnigami. As he learns to get his sight back, he finds himself in one mess after another, fighting till near death against demons who would seek to imprison the gods themselves, and the greatest dangers of his grandfathers past though long since dead.
The anime had a nice feel to it, like an edo era in japan. A nice story line, lil bit of comedy and a quaint romance between himself and a princess of the royal court. The actions scenes wern't to shabby either, as he would need to go all out and nearly kill himself in fights casting spells far above him.

Chrome Shelled Regios
This is like one of those mysterious man with a shrouded past but is a total badass at times anime. Basically it's awesome.
So this anime takes place in what Id describe to be earth once it is completely dead. Their is no outside anymore as it's just barren dirt, with air that's poisonous to breath in, and where these big damn carnivorous bugs dwell. Where their origin lies, no one knows. But it is the job of the heavens blade receivers, the strongest and most skilled in combat second only to the queens power, to dispatch them one by one and neutralize the threat to their home capital, as well as the others.
All life now lives inside capitals. Floating Cities run by the power of fairy's that move away from constant danger. The story begins in one of the cities, where the various military squads race about to welcome to new students to the academy, snatching up any talent they can find. When a fight breaks out and gets out of hand, a building collapses on top of a bystander. When the dust clears, a lone student stands carrying her, having moved faster then any could see, our main character the ex heavens blade receiver.
I thought this anime was great. The plot started out interesting from episode one and kept building with twists and turns, and even a second back plot that you wouldn't even realize fits until the very end.
The characters were well rounded, almost giving me the feeling of our cast from full metal panic, very enjoyable.
The soundtrack was pretty good with the fight scenes and music getting you all pumped up.
The story was not only plot driven, but also kept it's comedy, and some harem like romance along the way.
9.5

BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad.
This is a music genre type anime. About the life of true rock bands.
The anime starts off with a nobody named Yukio, however anyone who knows him always calls him by the nickname a childhood friend gave him, Koyuki. He's not popular, gets picked on and conned a bit, but he never lets it get em down.
Then he meets Ryûsuke when he saves his ugly dog from some kids kicking it around. He starts going to some of his bands shows and hanging out with him, introducing Koyuki to guitar and encouraging him to play. While doing so Koyuki meets some of the strangest people he's ever known, from a perverted swim instructor/guitarist, to a lingerie teacher.
When Ryûsuke's band breaks up as a great many do, he sets out to create the ultimate rock band, gathering talent from all over, and finding the greatest hidden talent in the least expected places.
From start to finish this anime shows the true spirit of bands not scene at least to me since the early 90's when the last of the real ones surfaced with none to take their place after. It shows the sweet beginnings, the great times, and the hardships a band faces at every turn. From extreme pressure coming from the inside, the outside, and even the greedy top, all pressing down on everyone physically and mentally. And the sweet satisfaction of doing the one shot amazing show.
I loved this anime, it really expressed how it is. From real life, to school life, work life, band life, shuffling them all the while trying to stay on your game and not burn out. Distilling in you the feelings that they all feel. It was as if I were watching a biography of the great rock bands of old.
A SOLID 10/10
The only sadness that this anime can bring, is that it's second season never came.
Also watch the dub. All the songs are in English weather it's subbed or dubbed. The only difference is, that a Japanese man cannot pronounce English! And god damn does the dub hit true on both the male and female lead roles.

Video Girl Ai.
Heartbroken and depressed, but still putting aside his hardships to worry about his friends sadness, a young man stumbled into a video store. He is the third customer in a long great time to have found the store that only the pure of heart are said to be drawn to. He rents a movie, the video girl ai, who sensing his sorrow climbs through the screen from the video world to the human world, to stay for as long as the tape runs it's course to help the young man end his suffering.
This was once of those romantic comedy flicks. Its an OVA at 6 episodes long.
It had a pretty average plot. A boy likes a girl who is a close freind, however that girl just cannot see what she has and instead likes another guy. In this case it's the boys best friend, who doesn't really feel the same way for the girl. (ya we've all seen the plot a few dozen times or more.)
As far as artwork went, this anime wasn't the best. Looks to be an older type, I mean it was obvious sketch work, it just wasn't that good sketch work that make older animes memorable. Plus the animation really kinda sucked. I mean normally I don't mind a bunch of still frames and whatnot but, everything from movement to them playing these damn songs in the middle of each episode to kill time. It was just a bore to be skipped past.
Voice work wasn't that grand either in the dub or sub. I mean the crying and emotion just really sounded fake.
I was kinda bored and it killed some time, other then that I can't see myself ever going back to it. 4/10

Ok i've got a small briefing on the following if ya care to read; Cardcaptor Sakura, E's Otherwise, AIR TV.
Cardcaptor Sakura
Cardcaptor Sakura is about a young girl named Sakura Kinomoto[Avolone in the dub] who loves athletics. One day while down in the basement of her home she comes across a rather old book which was the clow Book that her father had found on one of his expeditions as far as i know of. Well without knowing and to curious as Sakura was she managed to open the book but opened a rather pandora reaction in which all the clow cards escaped. one remained behind which was the Windy card. After a while a gaurdian came out from the book. Keroberos was his name and boy wasn't he surprised to notice that the cards he was supposed to be keeping safe had escaped. Now after he announced Sakura the new master they both have to capture the cards again before all is lost. Along the way Sakura reveil many mysteries and her best friend finds out her secret and Sakura faces many challenges to claim all the cards. Second season has her claiming the cards as her own as she faces many battles along the way. The movies among them shows many extensions of her journey and more about the clow cards including one secret card that was not called within the book. This is one CLAMP work that started me off in anime and it's one of the best to have as a starting point. To find out more and that is not including in the anime it's best to read the manga also since it includes alot of info that will surprise you inlcuding a few more cards that were not included in the anime
E's Otherwise E's Otherwise is a psychic based anime. A young boy named Kai who differed from many of his friends contains alot more power than he imagined. Together with his sickly sister Hikaru was protected by an organization called ASHURUM. Scouted by Eiji, Kai was delegated to the ASHURUM special force AESES and undergo intensive training. Whenever he was free, Kai visited Hikaru at the hospital belongs to the organization, but Hikaru's condition never improved. So, one year later, with amazing growth from the intensive training, Kai decides to escape from the organization. Along the way Kai got sepearated from his sister and gains many new friends as he fights against ASHURUM. As Kai happens to suffer many injuries he still is determined to save his sister but before coming to a decisision which meant not seeing his sister for a long time. If you happen to love a dramatic view which has a theme of friendship and family while having a nice twist of fighting using powers then this is the anime for you. I liked it very much and wished it had a second season. many questions still remain to the watcher since the ending really didn't explain alot.
AIR TV This is one of the saddest animes i've ever seen. Yukito Kunisaki is on a journey, seeking a girl with wings who flies in the sky, as mentioned in a childhood tale. During this journey, he settles down in a small town, trying to make some money. There, he meets a strange girl named Misuzu. Misuzu quickly makes Yukito her friend and invites him to stay with her. Yukito decides to stay in the small town, and continue searching for the winged girl his mother had searched for in her life. The girl he comes across named Misuzu happens to be the one but she contracts a illness that Yukito knows of in which he stays by her side throughout the anime even if Misuzu doesn't even realize it. Also to a conclusion to this anime there is a movie in which many events of collection of memories including a behind story of what else happened besides the anime. The movie also has one particular theme which includes a nice love interest and for those who loves sad and romantic animes then this is the one for you. I cried near the ending since it was rather moving and sad and to those who actually thinks this is a girly anime then you are kinda wrong since it has a few comedy scenes throughout this.

Roserio to vampire season 1&2
This is your average harem underdog nice guy harem.
Now the plot is this. A normal young man who flunks out of all the other high schools gets accepted into an academy he's never heard of. (actually his dad robbed an admission letter from a monk) And so he heads to the house of horrors he is run down by a pink haired vampire named moka who becomes his first freind and then sucks his blood. He realizes that not only is everyone in the school a monster, but any human that tries to enter is killed outright as monsters don't like humans and much the other way around.
It sounded like a pretty good anime, but plot wise this thing was repetitive as all hell. Looking at the story first, it doesn't have one. The story is about one guy surrounded by various girls who tried to steal him away, and then when they couldn't stuck by em in an endless love square.
The animation itself is so damn cheap it isn't funny. As in all transformation animes, they used the same clip again and again in each episode. Text and all. Some scenes they actually did 3 times in a row. The drawing of them fighting near the end of the first season was just 4 characters worse looking then speed racer with peg arms going up and down like an old nes game. Then you have the panty shots, hey I like echhi, but in season 2 you has these annoying damn censorship bats covering their whole asses.
Sound was alright. Nothing spectacular. The first opening song was good, the second one had some kind of disco going on or something.
Character wise, most of em sucked. The succubus shouldn't of even been in the anime because she wasn't even really a secondary character. The witch was annoying in acting and voice, the only 2 that made it worth while was the silver moka and the stalker snow girl that added the comedic effect.
It was a fun anime but don't expect some kind of meaning out of it cause their ain't one, unless it shows up if they lite for S3.
5/10

dawsintron wrote: and also 5 Centimeters Per Second Hell Yes. I recommend Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, for those who can stomach it. Another anime that I'm slightly more embarrassed about having watched is Tokyo Mew Mew. It makes absolutely no sense, which is the only reason I watched it, it was ridiculous to the point that I found it to be more of a comedy that what it was meant to be. I recommend it to anyone who found Sailor Moon interesting, because there are better anime of that sort of genre than SM.
_________________ Look, I'm not 0987654321. I'm Numbers, got it? Just Numbers. No, don't ask why I chose 0987654321. Just deal with the fact that you've got to call me Numbers, all right?
An anecdote has it that when Philip II sent a message to Sparta saying "If I enter Laconia, I will raze Sparta to the ground", the Spartans responded with the single, terse reply: "If."

Oh man, I can't believe this hasn't been recommended yet. That, or I haven't read through all the pages to see.... but here I go...
Mushishi [Horror/Monster of the Week] A story of a traveling doctor(?) who can see creatures called 'mushi' and helps people along the way, dealing with these strange creatures.
There is no specific plot, and each episode takes place in a different place, with a different cast of characters, other then the main character of course. Basically it follows a "monster of the week" formula.
It's a peaceful anime, and not much extreme action, so some people may find it to drag a little bit, but it's definitely worth trying out.
1o/1o Would watch again.
