What is IRC?
Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a form of real-time Internet text messaging (chat) or synchronous conferencing. It is mainly designed for group communication in discussion forums, called channels, but also allows one-to-one communication via private message as well as chat and data transfers via Direct Client-to-Client.
There are two ways to connect to Cartoon-World's IRC network.Easy:

IRC uses a different database system.
If you want to register on IRC as well, choose a name you'd like to go by on IRC and type it in the username box, and join our help channel for assisstance. ( /join #help )Advanced:

Install XChat WDK with a Normal Installation. Choosing anything but normal installation will cause you to also install perl, python, and other languages. Normal is fine for the IRC beginner.Step 2:
Fill out your user informationStep 3:
Add Cartoon-World's Official IRC network to the "Network list"1)
See the window from the last step, we want to click the +Add button.2)
Change "New Network" to "Xertion" and press ENTER. (It won't save unless you do.)3)
Select Xertion, and then click "Edit" on the right.4)
You will see a window like this
Change the information to the following:
Make sure to press ENTER after changing "newserver/6667" to "irc.xertion.org/6697" or it won't save.
Fill in your NickServ password (if you have one)
Put a check mark in "Skip network list at start up," select "Xertion" if it isn't already selected, click Connect.Step 5:

Remove the check mark in "Always show this dialog after connecting."Optimized Setup
The settings here are optional, but they will make your life easier.
Type in the following commands does not matter where as long as it's in the text bar:1)

The above commands do the following:1)
Rejoins a channel when you are kicked automatically.2)
Enables the tray icon (down by the clock)3)
X button does not close application, right clicking tray icon and selecting "Quit" quits XChat.4)
Auto-reconnects to the IRC network if your connection drops out.5)
Auto retries connecting if the connection fails the first time.mIRC

Open mIRC go to File -> Recent Servers -> New Server Window and then new window will open. Type in /server irc.xertion.org -j #cartoon-world
Start by downloading the installer for mIRC from their website. It’s free for 30 days, after that it will let you continue to use it, however the main page will stay on longer before the “Continue” button appears.
Install mIRC by doing a normal install, it does give you the option to run as a portable application, this is for running the program from a memory stick.Setup:
You’ll get this screen. Just click continue. Register if you like the program and intend on become a regular on IRC.
This screen will then show up:
Add your nickname and alternative nick, then click on “Servers” in the left Connect tree.
In the Server option you’ll find a lot of servers to choose from. We need to add the Xertion server to the list. Type the details as you see them and then click “Add”.
Xertion will be set at the very bottom of the list. Click on Xertion and then click on the “Select” button on the right.
This will take you back to the original Connect screen, with the difference being that Server under the Email box will now show Xertion.
Click OK and the server will join the Xertion IRC server. You’ll now be connected, however you won’t be in any channels. You’ll notice this box will come up first:
Type: #cartoon-world into the box and click “Join” and welcome, to Cartoon-World IRC!
Add #cartoon-world to favourites and make it autojoin on connect. Go to “Favourites” on the top menu and select “Add to favourites”, choose the “join on connect” checkbox and click OK. When you next start up you’ll join #cartoon-world automatically.
